Episode #14 Design Thinking Ft. Amit Saluja, NASSCOM. 

 Welcome back to MSME TALK with Industry Experts. Design-led companies such as Apple, Pepsi, IBM, Nike, Procter & Gamble, and SAP have outperformed the S&P 500 index according to the Design Value Index created by the Design Management Institute. Big Consulting firms such as McKinsey, Accenture, PwC, and Deloitte have acquired design consultancies. For an increasing number of CEOs, design thinking is at the core of effective strategy development and organisational change. Design is transforming the way leading companies create value. The focus of innovation has shifted from being engineering-driven to design-driven, from product-centric to customer-centric, and from marketing-focused to user-experience-focused.
So how can MSMEs, Start-ups benefit from Design Thinking?  When design principles are applied to strategy and innovation, the success rate for innovation dramatically improves, it can help in cost reduction, solving complex problem, business growth, happy customers , employees etc.  Also, Designing is more than creating products and services; it can be applied to systems, procedures, protocols, and customer experiences etc. 
In this Episode we will understand what is Design Thinking, what is the frame work & tools for Design Thinking, for whom it is applicable. How Design Thinking is very beneficial & relevant for MSMEs along with few real examples from Amit Saluja , Senior Director and Centre Head, NASSCOM Centre of Excellence -Gandhinagar .
 
 Apart from NASSCOM, Amit has held leadership positions at IBM, General Electric, and RPG Transmission in a career spanning over 25 years. Having worked with industrial and technology companies in multiple domains, Amit has rich and diverse experience in  digital technologies such as AI, Cloud, Analytics, and IoT to usher in greater efficiencies in manufacturing and driving business growth. Amit is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and expert in devising design thinking methodology. He mentors MSMEs and startups on business strategy, process improvement and building technology roadmap.
NASSCOM, a not-for-profit industry association, is the apex body for the 194 billion dollar IT BPM industry in India. In India, IT industry provides the highest employment in the private sector. NASSCOM Gandhinagar center(smartmanufacturing@nasscom.in) has built India’s largest ecosystem for the manufacturing digitization by bringing together enterprises, startups, researchers and government on a common platform. Center has dedicated programs for the MSMEs with name of Udyam 4.0 – Nayi DISHA which is aimed to guide MSMEs .
