At SIDBI’s 37th Foundation Day celebrations, several strategic initiatives focused on improving MSME credit access, rural enterprise modernization, and technology adoption have been launched by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman
Key highlights:
• ₹5,000 crore additional equity support for SIDBI
• Target to add 25 lakh new MSME beneficiaries by 2028
• SIDBI-RRB Co-Lending Platform for rural & semi-urban MSME credit
• MoRE Programme for modernization of rural non-farm enterprises
• Micro Credit Card Scheme with revolving credit up to ₹5 lakh
• SIDBI MSME Exchange – Machinery Portal for machinery financing & technology adoption
• Strong push toward paperless, digital, data-driven MSME lending
The Finance Minister also emphasized that SIDBI’s role must evolve beyond lending into becoming a “market maker and risk-sharing partner” for India’s MSME and startup ecosystem.
Alongside this, SIDBI continues strengthening digital initiatives like GST Sahay, PSB Loans in 59 Minutes, and Udyam-linked lending models to make financing faster and more accessible for small businesses.
